Mullein oil is another natural remedy that has been used for centuries to treat a variety of ailments. Mullein is a flowering plant that grows in temperate and cold climates all over the world. The leaves of the mullein plant are treated with a specific oil, which has been used for centuries to treat earaches.

The active compounds in mullein oil, such as verbascoside and luteolin, also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

Mullein oil extract contains various compounds, including monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, that have anti-inflammatory properties. These terpenes work together to decrease inflammation and pain caused by an earache.

In addition, mullein oil helps relieve congestion and clean out your ears. It also softens dried wax buildup inside your ears, which may be contributing to the headache you’re experiencing.

The mullein oil that is used is organically grown in a sustainable way. Organic garlic mullein oil is made from pure, organic mullein flower extract and doesn’t contain any harmful chemicals or solvents.

To produce garlic mullein oil, the flowers of the mullein plant are harvested sustainably and ethically. The flowers are dried in the sun or in an oven until they reach a moisture level of around 25%. At this point, the flowers are crushed using traditional methods.

There are two ways to extract oil from mullein flowers

To extract oil from mullein, you can either steam distill the flowers and leaves or cold press the flowers and leaves.

Steam distillation is done by heating the plant material to produce a vapor, which is then condensed back into a liquid. This method is used to extract essential oils, which are highly concentrated.

Cold pressing is a simple mechanical process that uses pressure to squeeze oil from plant material.

Creating an oil extract from the mullein flower

The certified organically grown mullein flower is carefully shade-dried so that it can be distilled into a liquid extract for the mullein garlic oil.

The oil is a natural antiseptic and helps to relieve chest congestion, bronchitis, and other respiratory problems. It is also effective in treating ear infections.

How do you administer mullein garlic oil for ear pain?

You can warm the oil in a double boiler for 10 seconds or so to ensure that the oil is not cold when it is dropped in to the ear.

Use the glass dropper that is within the glass garlic mullein bottle.  Place 1-2 drops of oil into each ear for children under 8 years old, and 3-4 drops for anyone older than 8.  Do not put the dropper itself into the inner ear, simply drop the oil into each ear and it will penetrate deeper within the ear canal.

The idea is to not fill the ear with oil, we just want to coat it with oil.
