Recipe for bananas and cream oatmeal

The classic recipe calls for whole milk at the very least, or half and half.

The perfect banana and cream oatmeal is made with:

1/2 cup oats

Water, quantity as directed by the package

½ cup milk of choice, the creamier the better

1/2 mashed banana

Using a banana that is more on the ripe side will give your oatmeal a depth of natural sweetness.

½ tsp genuine vanilla extract

dash of cinnamon (optional)

teaspoon of brown sugar (optional)

1 spoonful of crunchy peanut butter or sliced almonds (optional, but YUM!!)

Instructions:

  1. Cook oats according to the package directions with water. Cooking it on the stove is healthier than using the microwave. If you can get into the habit of not using the microwave, your food’s nutrients will stay at peak quality.
  1. Once the oats are done cooking, add in the milk, mashed banana, sweetener of choice, vanilla extract, and dash of cinnamon and peanut butter, if you choose. Stir everything together and let it cook for another minute or so until warmed through.
  1. Top it off with optional sliced bananas using the other half of your banana.
