Recipe for bananas and cream oatmeal
The classic recipe calls for whole milk at the very least, or half and half.
The perfect banana and cream oatmeal is made with:
1/2 cup oats
Water, quantity as directed by the package
½ cup milk of choice, the creamier the better
1/2 mashed banana
½ tsp genuine vanilla extract
dash of cinnamon (optional)
teaspoon of brown sugar (optional)
1 spoonful of crunchy peanut butter or sliced almonds (optional, but YUM!!)
Instructions:
- Cook oats according to the package directions with water. Cooking it on the stove is healthier than using the microwave. If you can get into the habit of not using the microwave, your food’s nutrients will stay at peak quality.
- Once the oats are done cooking, add in the milk, mashed banana, sweetener of choice, vanilla extract, and dash of cinnamon and peanut butter, if you choose. Stir everything together and let it cook for another minute or so until warmed through.
Feel free to top bananas and cream oatmeal with coconut shavings!
You can make this ahead of time and have it ready in the fridge to warm up. Make a few days’ worth at once to save time.
Cindy Gordon shows you how to make her version of bananas and cream oatmeal in her video that is less than a minute long:
If you are in a big hurry
If you don’t have 5-10 minutes to put this together in the morning and want to take it on the road, this is the closest thing, just add boiling water to cook it, and then add cream or milk as a touch of luxury!
